Today, River North is better known for art and entertainment than for manufacturing and mafia bosses. As one of Chicago’s hippest neighborhoods, River North has no shortage of events to attend or new dining options.

River North is sometimes called “Chicago’s adult playground,” and it’s easy to see why. The neighborhood caters to partygoers of all moods, so you’ll always find a place to spend the night. Here are some of the fan favorites:

  • The Bassment – This weekend nightclub features live music, specialty cocktails, and delicious communal meals. It’s a place that everyone in town knows about, but it retains its underground charm. The $10 entrance fee is well worth it;
  • Beercade Headquarters – Beercade’s headquarters may lie just outside the “official” boundaries of the River North neighborhood, but it’s still part of the neighborhood. And while the vintage pinball and arcade games are the centerpiece, the food and drinks are pretty good too. An evening at HQ is like the birthday party you always wanted as a kid, but better;
  • Blue Chicago – For a more low-key evening, this bluesy establishment is the best place to enjoy live music while you talk. The music usually starts at 21:00; don’t forget to bring some cash to cover.
